OUR EXPERTISE IS KEY
Our exceptional level of applied mechanics analysis expertise and engineering experience sets CAPE apart from other testing facilities.
We apply engineering techniques, including dynamics, elasticity, continuum mechanics, thermodynamics, gas dynamics, experimental methods and numerical models.
We begin by creating a model based on the properties of the vehicle, machine or component being evaluated. This model is then put through a series of analysis, which simulate reality and demonstrate actual forces that would be placed on the subject in a real-life scenario.
CAPE engineers utilize industry-standard structural analysis tools, such as: MSC/Marc, Patran, MADYMO, LS-Nike, and LS-Dyna. We also incorporate vehicle dynamics, crashworthiness analysis and occupant simulations.
Benefits
Applied mechanics analysis offers major cost savings over traditional physical testing. Once a model is created, multiple analyses can be conducted at a very low incremental cost. There is no need to destroy actual products to conduct analysis.
This type of analysis is also repeatable. Design revisions or material substitutions can be incorporated into the model and then analyzed under similar conditions. Not only does this allow for direct comparison of analysis results, but also engineers can analyze how a change affects other areas of the analysis.
CAPE engineers have experience and specialized equipment to help you define material properties of fabrics, foams, plastics, composites and metals throughout the linear and non-linear domains. Materials can be thoroughly tested at CAPE enabling our analysis engineers to define a wide range of material properties in numerical simulation models.
