SLED TESTING

Our dynamic impact testing capabilities allow for various combinations of payload weights, speeds and pulses.

CAPE can meet your testing needs with technical expertise and flexible scheduling. We offer a complete range of testing options and provide high-speed digital imaging for advanced test data analysis. Through years of experience, we have developed efficient testing methodology, which can be applied to a wide variety of vehicle crash simulations.

Hydraulic Sled
Our forward-firing hydraulic decelerating sled handles payloads up to 680 kg (1,500 lbm) and speeds up to 64 kph (40 mph) This test equipment is efficient and can be run quickly from test to test for high-volume tests of smaller loads.

CAPE's hydraulic sled equipment can easily reproduce the FMVSS 213 and ECE R44 deceleration profiles for worldwide child seat compliance testing. This equipment is ideal for repetitive testing at a standard pulse.

In addition to testing typical crashworthiness standards, the hydraulic sled can test the ability of general consumer products to withstand impact.

Bending Bar Sled
This forward firing deceleration sled features a 64 m (210 ft) long track allowing for high speed, high g testing of large equipment. We can simulate a wide range of vehicle crash pulses.

The sled allows for crash pulse durations of over 200 milliseconds with stopping distances of up to 1,778 mm (70 in). Speeds can reach up to 80 kph (50 mph). With payloads of up to 2,494 kg (5,500 lbm), CAPE's bending bar sled can accommodate most vehicle cabs or bodies in white.

Our bending bar sled has been instrumental in testing occupant protection and kinematics, airbag deployment, seat tether systems and cargo hold evaluations. We frequently utilize this equipment to test compliance with FMVSS 213, ECE R16, SAE J2418, SAE J2419 specifications and various vehicle specific pulse profiles.

Bending Band Sled
With numerous sled bucks to accommodate a range of testing configurations, CAPE's bending band sled has a velocity limit of 64 kph (40 mph) and a payload limit of 1,134 kg (2,500 lbm). The steel band decelerator allows for a wide variety of speed, stopping distance and pulse adjustments.

We have fixtures to test for compliance with U.S. and global standards for occupant safety restraints. CAPE frequently runs tests for compliance with FMVSS/CMVSS 213, AS/NZ 1754/3629 and R44 specifications.
