A Legacy of Making Children Safer

CAPE is a division of IMMI, a company devoted to Bringing Safety to People for more than 60 years. IMMI has extensive experience developing child seating restraints, and its SafeGuard brand provides school bus seating and lap-shoulder belt solutions designed to help protect student passengers.

CAPE was created, in part, to validate many of these products, and our expertise and experience with the school bus industry extends well beyond product validation. In fact, CAPE was the first test house to perform a bus-to-bus crash in the United States in 30 years.

CAPE can prioritize external customers to help get tests scheduled and completed quickly. If you need flexibility when performing testing on your school bus, CAPE can help.

School Bus Crash & Rollover Testing

With extensive experience in commercial vehicle testing, CAPE is equipped to test school buses of varying sizes and configurations.

CAPE has one of the largest barrier blocks in the world, and numerous school buses have been put to the test against it. Our 90-degree rollover machine gives customers the opportunity to evaluate how their products and vehicle occupants perform in a rollover.

In addition, CAPE’s sled testing capabilities provide an efficient and repeatable way to evaluate child restraints, occupant protection systems, and bus structures without requiring a full-vehicle crash test.

CAPE regularly performs testing to applicable standards, including FMVSS 210, 222, and 225.
