Acceleration Servo Hydraulic Sled

CAPE is home to two different sleds designed to simulate crash forces for system- and component-level testing. Efficient pulse development enables CAPE to duplicate deceleration from actual vehicle crashes or accurately meet a wide variety of regulatory standards. With broad testing capacity, CAPE’s sled testing provides customers with an efficient, repeatable, and less resource-intensive way to evaluate their products. For child restraint and seating system projects, explore CAPE’s Child Seating Testing services.

Acceleration Sled Testing Features

  • Pulses are accurately and repeatedly executed
  • Sled payload is up to 6,600 lbs.
  • Reverse firing feature allows for precise control of ATD and test article positioning
  • 2.0 MN acceleration servo-hydraulic sled
  • Capable of 70 g at 45 mph (72 kph)
  • Servo hydraulic braking enables quick change of impact pulse

Deceleration Sled

CAPE’s deceleration-type sled is designed for repeatable testing. Capable of loads up to 8,800 pounds, the sled can be used to test small systems, such as vehicle seats, as well as entire vehicles. Sled testing can serve as an intermediate step before full-vehicle testing. With forward- and reverse-firing sleds available, including the Servo Sled, Bending Bar Sled, and Hydraulic Sled, customers can evaluate a cab without crashing the entire truck. Sled testing provides an efficient, repeatable, and less resource-intensive way to perform the evaluations you need.
